Default Replacing Inner Fairing

I have a 2009 ultra and I have the color matched inner fairing on order. Once it arrives I have been kicking the idea about doing the replacement myself. I am also looking to replace the gauges myself if I can find amber colored digital's if anyone knows where i might find something like. I found dakatoa digital's web but they only make blue, dont think it would look good on to great in the light root beer dash. Ay pointers about replacing the inner fairing would be a help, or if you think I should let the dealer do the work. Eve though they have told me it would take about a week so.

Thanks Don

Its a easy job buy yourself a HD service manual and follow direction the hardest thing to do is realigning the ignition lock if u do a site search someone posted a set by step with pict how reinstall lock took me 3.30 hrs to do mine start to finish...While u have faring off replace air temp guage w/oil temp guage and loop the wire under faring and finish that when u do your next oil change...

If you don't have one yet get a service manual for your bike. The instructions in there to change the inner fairing is really good. Just take your time use pictures of everything and lable what you can. Don't know of anyone that makes the guages you are looking for. Maybe contact Dakota and see what they say.

Get a quote from the dealer. You could do it, but it might be worth it if the dealer does it.

+1 Get the service manual, Search the forum. Patience and 1/4 flat screw drive for ignition.
Really a piece of cake, Just patience.

Smile painted inner fairing

Definitely one of the best cosmetic upgrades you can do. Gives the bike a finished, custom look.
Will post pictures of my RG with colored matched inner.

Folks thanks for your input so far. Was at the dealership this evening to pick up a few parts that i had ordered and got the service manual, wow some light reading....lol
Have made the choice to do this myself after looking at the manual, doesn't look or sound to hard. As far as the gauges haven't found any amber colored digital, but as I was leaving oe of the salesman and I started to talk about what I was looking for. He said follow me, and he lead me over to a 2009 CVO road glide and there they were, the spun aluminum gauges that have a subtle harley orange accent lighting.

I now know they are the ones to put in the light root beer inner fairing with the leather dash pad and chrome trim. Cant wait to finish and post some pics.

As the wife says the only difference between men and boys are the price of their toys. Guess shes right but not going to let her know that.

To date I have replaced the:
brake pedel lever (billet)
shifter levers (billet)
shifter pegs (bar & shield)
shifter linkage (billet)
mirrors ( billet)
grips (flames)
Rack on tour pack
back rest and bracket
derby cover ( ride to live)
air cleaner (ride to live)
timer cover (ride to live)
4" windshield
passenger floorboard covers
speaker chrome trim rings front and back

on order:
inner fairing
have the radio trim ring
have the dash pad

gonna order the gauges & screamming eagle slip on pipes
