You can install the new bearing this way but you still must remove the old bearing, so a puller will still be necessary. The tool I mentioned performs both tasks.

The Auto Zone puller was mentioned earlier, but these devices don't provide foolproof protection from a needle falling out into the crankcase, and we all know what that means. Those designed for an HD inner-bearing removal have safeguards for this issue, including the one I bought.
