Default Engine Mounts

I have a 2006 FLHTI. It has 15,000 miles on it.
Just replaced the rear tire and while being done the front motor mount was found cracked in half. I was noticing a lot of extra shaking at about 75 mph.
Is this common or just my bad luck?

Common. Most baggers on the road that have any mileage on them have a mount that has been replaced or needs to be, the rider just doesn't know it yet.

Personally, I'd have the bike's alignment checked. The procedure is explained in the HD Service Manual for your bike. The procedure often results in noticeable realignment of the engine in the frame.

Breaking front motor mounts is not unheard of, but I don't have any data from which to characterize it as "common."

Default motor mount

I have an 07 and I think mine is worn also. I thought there was a different one to use than the stock one, but I am not sure anyone remember this or am I dreaming. Thanks AL

There is a service bulletin out for the 06 motor mount. My 06 EGC let go in Kansas while on a road trip. The dealer there replaced it free of charge to me.

sbfd8, there used to be polurethane replacement mounts, surely still available, although not sure how well they'd work. i remember them in the older catalogs.

On my 06 Ultra, it's past 31,000 and the front engine mount looks like new. I wonder if the late 06's used a better mount or am I just lucky so far?

Dumb question maybe, but how can you tell if it needs to be replaced? Other than vibrations, what other symptoms does it cause?

What do I need to check for, and can I replace it myself? Or do I have to break down and take it in to be checked and replaced?
