When I installed mine I went 1/4" up and out and they work great for me, I like the cleaner look it gives the bike. Just my .02 worth

+1 Saved my fairing when the mirrors contacted the concrete instead of the fairing. No problem with hands or elbows if you adjust them.

I have had both- I think you have BETTER vision with the fairing mount mirrors than Stock handlebar mounts. The trick is that if you are looking at any of your knuckles, drop the bars an inch. I can say this and I even have the Pullback bars now. All I ever saw with the handlebar mounts was my shoulders.
I have the fairing mounts in the standard position - and of course they have Chrome backs!

I have had them from day 1 and like them alot. I just adjust them out a little and there is no problem with the vision of elbows etc.....That said on other bikes I have owned with stalk mirrors I would see my shoulders. Elbows, shoulders 6 in one hand 1/2 dozen in another not difference to me but I like the fairing mounts much better.

I put them on mine just to give the bike a different look.

I have bikes with both. Both can have issues with obstructed view. On my Streetglide I put on a thinner seat (C&C Solo) and now have much improved rear view. On my '95 Electraglide I raised the bar mounted mirrors with HD 3 inch chrome mirror extensions and have great rear view. I think those extensions are still available from HD.
I see better with the extended bar mounts but the fairing mounts look better.

I don't think you would want them. There is a line across the right side mirror.

I've had both .. I had the fairing mount on my 99 and they were fine... on my 08 i stayed with the bar mounted. You have more styles and choices with the handlebar mount mirrors ride safe
