Default Bad Luck or Quality Issues?

I dropped by the shop to get my rear shock replaced as its leaking fluid. The tech finished up and did a test drive, but he found another issue. The bike was running kind of weak and the engine & cruise light are on. He hooked it up to check the codes, which pointed him to the ECM. He replaced the ECM and it still has the same issues. Now they are thinking its the Throttle Sensor, but that parts not in stock. So no riding this weekend

They are great guys and Im sure they will figure it out. What gets me is that, I just got this bike and it has 200+ miles on it. Any of you guys having similar issues on the '09's?

Well, first off you seem to have a decent dealer who actually gives a hoot.

With only 200 miles on your bike and already a leaking shock and quirky electronics tho, I'm left wondering if perhaps the MOCO is having quality control issues that might eventually destroy your relationship with your dealer.

I'm hoping the rest of the build holds up and you don't end up a problem child to your dealer where he gets caught in the middle of you and the MOCO.

The odds are every bike will experience at least one warranty failure due to a bad part. Seeing as how these bikes are made up of many hundred parts, it's numerically predictable that eventually a bike will roll off the assembly line with more than it's share of bad parts and end up being sold by a 'good' dealer like yours......That's when a 'lemon' can test even the most understanding owner and dealer relationship.

At this point, you gotta bite the bullet and wait patiently for your dealer to figure it out and fix it.....But make sure to keep score because you might end up at odds with the dealer where you will need to produce records of repairs and failures if it turns out your bike got more than it's share of bad parts.

Sounds like a PITA and not a serious problem, fix a few small bugs and
you could be good to go.

Hang in there. Sounds like You have a good dealer. They will take care of Your bikes problems. I would hate to be in Your shoes this weekend, I get depressed a lot when I can't ride. Good Luck and let us know how things turn out.

I agree with Oinker. Make sure to keep a copy of every work order for the bike. Here is a link to your states lemon laws regarding motorcycles...http://http://www.lemonjustice.com/l...rcycle_law.php...Just so your informed...Keep faith in your dealership to resolve the issue in a timely manner so you can get that machine rolling down the pavement soon and this is all forgotten about.

Hopefully it will not come down to that and as stated it's only a few bugs. Good luck! Keep us informed how it goes.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will keep track of the all the work orders, just in case. Hopefully, after they get it back on the road I will be good for many miles to come.
