while at the dealer yesterday he told me that the 09s are due a service at 1000,2500,5000,7500,10000, and every 5k thereafter. did I miss something in the owners manual about having to svc. the bike every 2500 miles for the first 10k?
I thought it was 1000, 5000, 10000, and so on. Hope so, feels like I just serviced the thing at 1000, and am at 2500 right now about to leave for a 500mile weekend...
My owner's manual and service manual both specify 5K intervals. I would ask your service guy if the intervals quoted are required and if they are, why doesn't HD specify those intervals in their official publications? He'll probably tell you they are recommended, not required.
thats just a carryover from the 'old days' when everyone changed their oil at 2500 miles. not necessary anymore and really a waste of money, especially at dealership prices.
the svc. mgr. told me that and said that it is recomended in texas due to the excessive heat and humidity. I think I'll just wait for the 5k svc.
uh, yeah, cause everyone knows anything south of milwaukee is considered severe duty, right?
yes, if you ride your scoot in severe conditions, then oil changes (not complete services) are recommended more frequently. that said, just riding in texas does not constitute severe use. maybe if you were a shriner in competition or something, but not just normal, everyday use.
