Default Power Comander III problems

I washed the SG last sat with the seat off. Buttoned everything back up and my bike wouldnt run right. It would spit and sputter and then cut off. I then unplugged the PCIII and plug the factory harness in the ECU bike ran fine. So rode it home (since i was at work) and let it sit over night rode into work the next day and before i left i plugged the PCIII back in and the bike started up then cut off so i started it again it stayed running and i let it idle for about 10 min. Rode the bike all afternoon yesterday and it ran fine. Anyone ever had trouble with the PCIII getting wet and acting up? That is the only logical thing i can come up with.

Oh yeah i bought about 10 months ago from fuel moto so its not that old.
If anyone has any comments or had experience like this let me know. Thanks

I posted a thread about 2 weeks ago with the same problem...I disconnected everything and dried it good with a hair dryer....I then used plenty of die-electric grease...not just on the pins but also the boot sleeve of the connectors.....haven't had a problem since. oh..I also used elec. tape at the connectors too.

Same hear washed the bike, then started up and it died out. Restart with no problem since. Thought it was odd.

Wrap it in a plastic bag and seal it off the best you can, water + electronics = problem

I check my PC connection after every time I wash my bike and blow out any water. I need to use some die-electric grease or just wrap it in plastic.

Common problem. First time it happened to me was after the dealer washed the bike with a pressure washer after a service. Limped to an Indy I knew and they dried out the ecm connector and didn't have a problem again til I was seven hundred miles from home in a blinding rain.Long story but I got it going and had to stop several times over the next five hundred miles of rain and dry the connector. I promise you when I got home I sealed that sumbeach up so good you couldn't get it wet with a hurricane. No problems since.

Unplug the connector, blow it out with spray electrical cleaner, make sure you haven't gotten any green corrosion on your pins, use di-electric grease on the pins then wrap the pigtail and connector good with plastic tape and you'll be ok.

Good Luck

Tom

21 months on mine & it went T.U. on a ride to Arizona. After a "spirited" ride above the 7000 ft. level in New Mexico I first had a 1500 rpm idle. A little further on & I had no idle at all. Try to stop for traffic in town & it would die. Restart it & it would idle fine till I ran through a gear or two, then no more idle.

Checked the bike out at Barnett's in Las Cruces, but found no codes or problems. 40 miles down the road it started runnin' rough so I pulled over, removed the P.C., & did a little over 2500 miles without another problem.

Called Fuel Moto today & put the P. C. in the mail. They say they'll figure out what's wrong & fix it. No hassle so far, & they've always been easy to talk with. I'm optimistic!
