Question Tour pack hinges

Part # 79211-08 discription says 06 or later.

Has anyone put them on earlier than 06 tourpack?

Does anyone know what the difference is?

Thanks
Moe

The 06 and older tour packs are fiberglass, gray color inside. The 07 and newer are PVC, black color inside. The hinges in question will fit, but I don't know what problems you might have with them down the line.

On a leap of faith (and a 30-pack), a friend and I recently installed the new hinges on both an '05 Ultra (King tour pack) and an '08 FLHX with a chopped tour pack. We had to remove less than 1/32 from the tour pack lid overhang directly under the hinge area with a small file to make them snug up to to the top. I suspect that is why the hinges are rumored to be obsolete because it would only take a minor change to the hinge to make these hinges fit many more tour packs. My only question now is should I have put touch-up paint on the the file marks to keep the fiberglass from rusting?
