My buddy has an 07 Ultra that pinged under load with 91 octane.
Went to the dealer and was told that was how Harleys ran and to live with it.
He wasn't impressed with the answer, so he changed to Vance and Hines true duals and no more pinging....
Yeah, the stealer I bought mine from basically said the same thing. Then, he says, it sucks to have to $pend another Grand to make it run how it should! Well, that's what I did! Even the clowns from SOAR said they didn't hear anything! Well of course! Screw the MoCo, their no different than another thieving big operation.
I had the EXACT same problem with my 09Sg. I bought the PCV because of the dadgum pinging and the map Jamie sent had me pinging like a SOB when I rolled on it. One quick phone call later, then 10 minutes after that (retarded the timing) the pinging/pre det was a thing of the past.
I couldn't believe or accept that the bike was supposed to run like that from the factory, so I took matters into my own hands and called fuel moto.
All this talk about fuel management systems isnt BS, to me it was necessary and made my bike run the way I knew it should.
