RK Custom - Advice needed
Sitting on it you can certainly tell it will make a difference in riding position (positive I think). I am curious though about the throttle and idle cables... it would seem that because of the lower height of the bars that these cables would drag across the gas filler cap (they have a flush mounted cap installed on their RK so it eliminates the problem).
Any suggestions from people with the 518's about how to avoid this? (presumming I would hide whatever cables I could, and go braided on the rest)
I also have heard of guys going to the Heritage bars, although from sitting on one at the showroom that would me a MAJOR change and I am unsure I could enjoy it.

Nice store, eh? Ride up for the free Thursday BBQ!
I will have to look into the Thursday BBQ.. do you typically ride over?

I'm around 6.1 maybe closer to 6.2 in's tall.
I just put some Burley Curiser Bars on mine.
My seat use to bother me also, not anymore, the new bars changed it all.
To each their own but the stock bars on a Custom are far from anything I want to ride with.
The new bars give me a feeling of MUCH more control also, the stock are way to long and flemsly.
To bad your not near you could take it for a ride.
Oh did I mention she has GIANT tittys, no way for me to ride and sit anywhere near back without smashing her chest.
With the new bars I have to reach for them which sits me up over the bike a little more and adds way more control.
IMO this is noway to ride, kinda like a back seat driver, I feel the new bars may extend my life a bit also.

I looked for the perfect bars for over a year, finaly found the perfect bars for ME.
My camera is going out to the shop with me this morning, I promise to take some pic's!
If I can figure out how tp post pic's I will.....
I'm also going to take some pic's of some hiway pegs that are much safer and very comfortable!
I'll have her take a few pic's of me sittin on it also so you and others get a better idea.
Stay tuned, I'll be back this evening!

I do ride over, but it's only a couple of miles for me -- way too close to keep any money in my bank account! If you make it over, my ride has a USMC plate frame. At times, I'll probably be working the grill, along with other local HOG members.
It is a very nice store... and I actually had a very nice experience talking to the guy at the parts desk (Beeno). He was by far the most friendly and helpful parts guy I have spoken to at any of the local dealers.

I see they are open till 9pm, but what time does it usually kick off?

Things usually get going by 6PM -- last Thursday, most of the action seemed to start slowing down around 7:30-8PM. As the days get longer, it'll probably get more legs -- probably also depends on the band. This is sort a new thing for the dealership, filling the gap left when Gordy's in North Bend cancelled the Bikes 'n Brats nights.
