I just put a 21" front wheeo on my street glide and took it on the highway for the first time tonight. I know that the front will feel lighter and the bike handles a lot sportier but it seems at 70 mph and above the front wheels likes to wobble like a gyroscope. I was told that the wheel being larger will have more of a gyroscopic feel to it. I notice that at speed if I move the handlebars they wobble about 3 times on either side before it stops. It feels unsteady at anything over 65 and a lot of my buddies ride at 75+ mph. It goes straight fine. I have not lowered the front forks yet but it seems as though this problem will not be cured but the lowering of the front suspension. I am lookinf for people with the same experience and how it can be corrected if at all. I love the feel but not on the highway. I also made sure the tire was in balance and it is. Please help I don't want to get rid of the 21" wheel! What are others experiences at 75+ mph? Is this something I just have to get used to? Thanks
Def. no wobble with my 21" I dont speed but have rolled the occ.. 80+. If it was my bike I would do two things first pull the wheel back off and have it rebalanced again making sure they put the weight in the right spot and than second just double check and make sure that the bearings are seated properly in the tunnel also make sure that they center of the tunnel has the tube in there between the bearings. than work from there. Most guys I know don't even balance there 21's I just did it for good measure. Try that first good luck with your turn out.. on a side note I put some 22's on my 300c and they shook to **** above 60mph you know what fixed that having the tire repositioned on the rim and than road balanced just a thought for ya. I thad less vibs. still not perfect but it was better. Good luck!
I have renegade phoneix wheels and metzler 880 tires. I will have it looked at! Any other suggestions. It feels like a car with loose steering the handlebars are constantly moving back and forth just enough to notice it on the fairing as well. Renegade mounted and balenced the wheels tires bearings rotors and it did come with weights on the front wheel. I am worried the harley dealer isn't somewhere I want to take it to have it checked. When I got it back it was rubbing on the belt guard. The rear tire only hit for about 1/4th of the rotation not the whole rotation. This puzzled me as to why only one part hit the belt guard. Could it be the rear wheel and not the front? I am pissed now because I don't trust them to fix it because nothing ever comes back correct when I take it in. I will see what they think.... Arrrg

renegade tires and wheels are usually pretty good, i would go ahead and recheck everything... prob something easy to fix...
Hard to do since the rear end really aligns itself but maybe its not aligned low speed you probably wouldnt feel it but higher speed yes. The tire shouldnt contact the belt at all and even if it did a tad it should rub equal not only in one section is all the spacers and such reinstalled properly in the rear?? just a thought..
