I thought that too, but my wrench explained that, actually, more air is funneled to the cylinders by deflection underway and all that happens is hot air rising if diverted around the shield and still escapes...no loss of cooling at all. Remember that these are for atop and go, hot temps and when that happens, your legs cook...I have heard no issues with any heat build up...can;t see how that could occur.

Would "stop and go traffic" also mean traffic that is more stopped than going...IE: like in a traffic jam, where traffic is moving just enough that you can't really shut your bike off for any length of time, but moving so slowly that your heat up is severe? Just curious...this is where I find it the worst.

Yup...that event where stop/go, traffic, heat, etc cook those thighs! These things work and the oil temp remained stable...they just damn well work!

I just ordered these things yesterday after reading the post here.

I have an 05 Ultra, my first Harley as some of you know. Rode a Yamaha Silverado 1600cc Air cooled prior to this scoot. I was
almost SHOCKED at how hot the Ultra was to ride, even up here in MA. Thought about an oil cooler but figured with my thighs getting cooked how much whould 20 degrees really make?

Anyway, I ordered the things yesterday, got an email last night from RJ asking me where I heard about them. Okay, so I was a little surprised that I got an email. I responded and almost **** when I got a call from him literally 3 minutes later ;-) The guy kept me on the phone 15 or 20 minutes. He sounds like a nice guy, really stands behind the product. Started telling me all kinds of stories about how they are made, the testing they'd done etc... How every product is hand made, how the studs for each model is matched to the bike they are going on. He asked to hear back from me with what I thought, if I had any problems etc...

Can't wait to try them.

Joe

Thats the type of customer service that keeps bring in new customers. While I was considering something to help with the heat on the boyzzz issue, I just didn't like those lexan from Kuryakyn. Now do I want to take money out of my motor fund for these? Thats the question, I'll wait a see what Joe has to say before I go for it.

I liken RJ's customer service right up there with Pez! When you have vendors who want feedback, and when those vendors are bikers themselves, you have a good product! Besides, these guys are USA and vets (no offense to our Bro, PEZ in Canada, of course!)

Rj was in daytona for Bike week and is very excited about his product, he will talk your
ear off. I mean this in a good way though. Bought the heat deflectors, and they work very
well. They look like like they should be oem.

How do they affect the passenger with thier feet on the boards? Is the heat deflected onto their legs or around them?

Okay guys, here's my honest opinion of these "heat deflectors".

Two big thumbs up!

To briefly recap: Been riding 26 years, this is my first Harley 05 Ultra. I couldn't beleive how hot she ran. Thought there was a problem. Considered oil cooler and was talked out of it by the dealer. I came across these heat shields here on this forum, figured what the heck and bought them. RJ himself sent me an email about them and within minutes called me at home to chat about his product.

The shipped and came in quickly, putting them on took me a bit longer than RJ said. But take this with a huge grain of salt 'cause most of you guys will say a job will take an hour and it takes me three! ;-) Even with this being said, for most of you they will install in less than 5 minutes.

I took her out on a 60 mile ride on a local HOG chapter poker run up here in MA on Sunday. It was a comfortable day in teh upper 60's maybe even 70. The ride ranged from 25 - 50 mph.

I almost forgot I had the things on the bike! No heat on my thighs at all while slightly moving. I could feel the heat rise when stopped. If I put my had on my thigh while moving I could detect a slight breeze of warm air.

The look and finish of the product is A1, match the look of the seat even down to the "grain". I have no problem recommending these to anyone.

Joe
