Need Trailer Advice...
first, I know you should not trailer your bike, blah blah blah and I'm cool with that, I ride as much as I can. I travel quite a bit for business purposes and decided to buy an enclosed 6 x 12 trailer, totally set up to haul one bagger, maybe two smaller bikes. I take my bike with me when I go for more than two weeks. The trailer will have a wheel chock this weekend and has plenty of tie down points. My HOA will not allow a trailer and had to rent a storage place, about $70 / mo here on Phoenix. My question, do you think it is a good idea to advertise on Craigslist and rent to other Harley riders? My experience with Harley owners is that most are highly responsible people that take care of stuff. I would be willing to rent for a weekend to make money to pay my storage fee. I keep my stuff clean and would ask for security deposit. What does the forum think?
Here in Arizona insurance is not required on the trailer, the insurance of the vehicle towing the trailer also covers the trailer. I have additional theft insurance.

The idea is sound. I wouldn't think you would be able to get much per rental, ($50 3 day wkend/$100 wk), might be realistic. Your security deposit would therefore have to cover your investment. I think that might be the stopper.

Your still better off to have your trailer insured as well. Should be less then 50 a year as a ride on your car/truck policy. It cost me about $60.00 I think to do full coverage on my 07 7X14 Haulmark trailer. Plus if you loan it to someone, you are not hauling it, so what coverage would you have then??

I pay $32 every six months for my trailer insurance thru State Farm. I have a Pace Legacy 7 X 14 that will handle two dressers no problem. Would I consider renting it? Not if I wanted to keep it. People don't care about others stuff. I would loan it to a few, very few friends in need. Just my .02

Every time I loan a trailer something is broke. Lights, curb shot a wheel, dents in the aluminum, fender ripped off, the list is long. New rule...No I don"t loan my trailer or rent it. IMO, want to keep it nice? Don't loan it or rent it. Few will take care of it as if it was their own, after all "it's a rental". One joker that doesn't have it hitched up right and it comes off the tow vehicle and into oncoming traffic. Who do you think the victim is filing suit against ?
