I noticed a spot where the paint is missing on the upper engine case (about 1/2" diam) - where the two halves meet. It seems like it has been there since new and not getting any worse.
I will have the dealer look at it next time I'm there. Should be a warranty issue.
Im dealing with the same thing on my CVO. I will keep you posted on what they are going to do. I should have an answer by middle on next week.
Look at the thread "replaced my rear head" in the touring forum. This member had the same thing happen and Harley paid for it. So I hope this gives us a strong leg to stand on.
isnt that a powder coat ? a pressure washer shouldnt hurt it a bit if its been applied properly. What will make it flake and also on steel parts rust is a chip letting moisture under the coating...
I had a big chunk flake off on the top of the tranny...called the dealer... said they would just touch it up under warranty.....so I thought If thats all there going to do... I will do it myself....I mean what could they really do about it....its not like there going to pull the motor and re powder coat it...or replace the motor.....wont happen
BTW the finger nail touch up paint does not look the same as the powder coating. I have a case pending about this problem on my CVO. It seems that the pc is chipping away from the machine edges. This would be caused by not cleaning it properly or the machining process or combo of both. I am still waiting on my gasket recall so they can use some of the recall labor for the pc warranty work. The rep said I should have an answer this coming week.
