Ok so I got tired of polishing chrome and thought I would powder coat my luggage rack black and see how I liked it. If it looked good maybe do some more powder coating and less polishing. So I get the rack back from the powder coater today. As I walk into the garage with the luggage rack I drop it on the concrete floor and of course scuff it all up. So now instead of a shiney chrome luggage rack I have a scuffed up black luggage rack. Moral of the story shine your chrome with joy in your heart.

That sucks! So how did it look before you dropped it?
I'd love to have a 2nd bike I can black out like that. I had a Roadliner Midnight that was pretty much blacked out all over. Looked really sharp, though I do have to admit that I like my chrome just as much.
I'll find out today if they can touch it up or not. But I'm pretty sure by the process they have to do the whole thing. It looked great when I picked it up at the shop, and actually it looks good on the bike it just has these scuffs on it. As for the toughness I think it did pretty good cause it bounced around like a super ball and the scuffs are not very bad, but one went all the way to the shiny metal on the corner they're just not very big.
