I had my windshield cut down. I'm happy with the height and curve but I just noticed a slight problem.
The top edge of the windshield has some damage done to the surface where some tape was applied prior to the 'cut'.
Right now you have to look to be able to see it but I wonder if it will get darker as dirt enters.
I tried cleaning with "Harley Spray can Polish" but the 'smudges' just won't come off.
too late? just live with it?
If it gets bad... I can buy another shield but can this one be 'cleaned'?

Are you saying the tape damage the surface? I thought this happen to me when I taped a For Sale sign on my RKC. After trying several different cleaners and polishes including Plastx, I gave up. Later I bought Plexus to help remove bugs easier and Low and behold it reomoved the tape marks as well. Don't know why, but it might be worth a shot before you get into more abrasive solutions.
I found I really don't like polishes for cleaning windshields unless there are a lot of scratches or damage. They may improve scratches, but it scuffs the cleans undamage areas. I since try to keep my windshields pretty well protected with waxes or protectants like Plexus. Of course now I have a SG and its not as much of a problem.

Novus or Plastx works like a dream. Just polish it out with a microfiber cloth. Works great on helmets too.

and yes ...the damage ( smudge? marks) is on the surface of the windshield. ...just under where the tape was.
