Default Does the SERT learn?

Do any of you tuners know if the SERT can "learn" and improve the tune?
The first time I ran the 124 up to 5000 it had a real hesitation and the exhaust sounded off beat and a little lean. Torque was real strong to about 4800 and then seemed to tail off. I am running the canned S&S 124 program and still running in. Anyhow, I have run her to 5k+ a few times and she seems to be getting better, torque seems to rise again about 5200 now. Maybe its just psychological??

No it does not learn. A SERT is just the box that allows you to tune the ECM. The T-Max, PCV w/auto tune are examples you units that adjust as you ride and even then you still need a base map to start.

Just have fun with your 124.

Neither unit "learns." They are a comm device to allow changes to the ECM. The ECM has a very limited capability to "learn," at least those on U.S. models.

Your ECM learns, there is a feature called Adaptive Fuel Control, the values are stored in memory of the ECM and allow for adjustments to AFR. These values over time create develop a correction profile that is applied to your AFR. I beleive these adjustments are marginal, I have read ~10% but I don't stand by that number.

The SERT is like everything Harley sells, it will learn but only if you throw money at it.

there are learning boxes out there. ThunderMax is the name it supposed to learn as you ride if you change your area ie go to the moutains it's supposed to adjust itself to that altitude and then back again when you get back home. cool item for $400-$600

All EFIs do that - the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor reads the reduction in air pressure at altitude and adjusts.
