Default Engine Question

I am still learning about Harley-Davidson engines and I have a question about engine design. I have heard that starting with the TC-88 all engines are counter balanced where the early EVO's were not. My engine does not feel balanced but will admit that it does not have as much vibration as my brothers EVO. I also would like to hear opinions good or bad on the EVO, TC-88, TC-96

Only the softails have counter-balanced engines (88B, 96B).

Touring models have rubber isolating motor mounts.

touring and dynas are rubber mounted motors with no counterbalancing. softails being the only model with chain driven counterbalancers. as far as v-rods, heck, i don't know about them. but for big twins, the softails are the only ones which are currently counterbalanced.

Thanks all!. I can finally straighten those guys at work out. They have been teasing me that I didn't know what a "real Harley" felt like cause I had a counter balanced engine. I told them that its the first I heard of that and I never read that here but they seemed pretty sure.

I intend to go start up one of my old shovels today and run around. Nothing makes you appreciate the rubber mounted engines more. I had a counterbalanced Deuce for a couple of years. Amazing what a few weights slinging around inside will do. Just buy a shovel or a pan or a knuck and forget remembering anything.........Blurry mirrrors....can't see the speedo.....arms asleep up to your shoulder........Ahhhhhh HD of the past......Where is that quart of regular heavy?
