BUB7 Quiet Baffles Installed on TD's
Got the baffles and they went in pretty easy....the pipes didn't even have 500 miles on them yet so the original baffles came out fairly easy. after removing the end caps i usde some vice grips to grab the end of the baffles and wiggled a bit and they popped out. the quiet baffles went in about the same...making sure to loosen all the mounting bolt( under the hard bags) so the fiberglass packing won't have something to snag on. and then rotating the baffles clockwise while sliding it into the muffler to keep the packing tight to the baffle (did like someone else posted) You shouldn't have to take the mufflers off but i did the left side...it wasn't lining up like i wanted it to inside....plus it didn't want to "seat" in far enough...I tapped the muffler on the ground (clamp end)(you know...like how a batter taps his bat on the ground to drop the practice weight)
(I have a real thick mat as to not damage the muff). the right side was no problem at all. after wiping everything off it was time to start it up to see how these were gonna sound.........so far I'm really impressed! just looking at the 2 baffles you can see a big difference in them... I felt like the Bubs are louder than the Rhineharts (half the price too!!)..real throaty. and a tad bit loud going down the road. but sound really sweet. I needed something a lil quieter for the GF for this 3000 mile trip I'm getting ready to take. and this was the answer. Still has a deep rumble and a nice bark when you "gas" it, now my friends are looking into them (so much for being original
). I have about 300 miles on them and I believe they are sounding better and better the more I ride it...I can sneek home in the wee hours and not **** off the neighbors now...lolI LOVE MY BUBs!!!
oh yeah...I had a little decel pop....used some copper rtv and retorqued all connections......all is well now

Yeah, left pipe needed a little persuading from my rubber mallet to coax the flange on the header pipe but didn't have to take either muffler off.
Glad you're happy with them, they do sound great!
Wife and I went for a ride yesterday and about 5 minutes from the house, after the ride, the bike started making a very odd squealing noise. I thought my tranny had bit it, but the bike was running fine and shifting fine. Pulled into the garage and it continued. Needless to say I was pissed and couldn't find the problem. I slept on it.....
Today, I went for a ride around the neighborhood to see if I could tell where it was coming from. No dice. I pulled back into the garage, left it running and started crawling all over the place listening for it. Grabbed the muffler and put pressure inward on it and it stopped. Ended up taring the whole right side of the exhaust off and BINGO, the bracket that bolts to the right side had broke.
The "U" shaped bracket was now a "J" shape. The clamp and the broken piece stayed in place and the pipe was rubbing on the bracket still bolted to the bike. Needless to say, this bracket is a pot metal piece of crap.
I also found a hairline crack in the pipe where the crossover is welded to the main pipe. Sealed it up with high heat copper to get me by for now. I will run these pipes for the rest of the summer, but they are gone this winter. Great sounding pipes, but shoddy craftsmanship. My last pipes were V & H, and they blew these things away as far as quality.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
I did call them at 1pm today, got a machine for the tech support line, left a message to have him call me back. No call, and they close at 4 pm, same coast as me. I was in the middle of working on my bike and managed to use what was left of the bracket to get me through the upcoming weekend.
I took a chance buying used pipes off the forum, and lets just say, I'm less than impressed with the product.
