Default Keeping track

Ok maybe i need a life but was wondering how many others keep track of the extra parts that they put on by doing the following:

1. take pics
2. keep track on computer of the part name, part number, catalog, page number and cost

My insurance policy only covers up to 3000.00 at this point. I have around 2800.00 extras so far, and when finished with what i plan to put on will be over 5000.00. So i am thinking about upping the coverage and will have proof of what i have installed and the costs involved.

As another note what do most of you do with the stock parts that you take off. I mean cant think that there is a huge market for them. Was thinking about keeping so can replace them on the bike if I would ever choose to trade in. But then again by then might find other items that i like better.

The good thing about keeping track as you indicated in #2 is that if you go down and you bring the scoot to a dealer when the insurance adjuster comes in, they go through all the parts that need replacing. This helps them on insurance estimates for replacement costs.

keep your receipts too, sell the extra parts to fund new ones, if you get rid of the bike you'll start all over again

I've done this as well. Taken pics of everything added on, kept all receipts of it all, as well as part numbers, and the total add on amount which to this date is in excess on 9k.

I sell my stock parts. I have most of my receipts. Sometimes I don't want to know what I have stuck in it.

Before I ordered my FLHRC I went through the accessory catalog and made a list of the page, part #, description and cost of all the parts I wanted, one list of stuff that I wanted done when I ordered the bike and another list of stuff I could get later, which was easy to email to family when they asked what I'd like for Christmas. I'd mark the items off as I got them. This got me going on a list of non-Harley parts I got for the bike. With two Harleys I can keep track of all the stuff I want as the funds grow.
My insurance covers about $9K in accessories and modifications and an agent came out when I got the bike and took photos and I gave him the list.

I just keep a basic list on my computer so that I can give it to the next owner when the time comes. I suppose having the list for insurance reasons is a good one too.

I'm trying to get into the habit of saving receipts. I need to take some pics though.

I do the same, take pics, scan reciepts then save to a flash drive. I do this because what a friend of mine went through with an insurance company once. His truck was stolen and when the truck was recovered the wheels/tires were gone. The insurance company told him that they could only provide him with a stock set since that what was indicated by the VIN number. He was able to then produce a picture of the truck and they finally agreed. This is whay i do!
