Hello all,
This is the first time I have posted anything to a forum so I'm not sure how it works.
I have an issue with my 08 Ultra. I replace the bars and grips with the HD reach bars (up 1" back 1") and ISO grips. After replacing the bars and grips the bike wouldn't run more than 20 mph or so. I found this forum and searched for help. After running the diagnostics, it appears I have a TGS problem. I found a new sensor and replaced it but the problem remains, codes P1510, P2122 and P2138.
Before I trailer the bike 150 miles to the dealer for repairs, I would like to ask if anyone has had the same problems. I can't believe something as simple as changing bars and grips would create such a problem. Am I overlooking something? I've had the scoot a little over a year when I bought it new. The only mods I have done is put true duals, a stage 1 air filter and a power commander 3 on it. I replace the exhaust 6 months ago without any problem with the exception of having to reset the throttle every 3 or 4 days or so.

...
Well, I have true duals, stage one, Dyno tuned, 2 inch higher bars (KromeWerks), Kury ISO grips, and am using the stock TBW wiring.
Could there be a issue with the connection between the throttle wire (green connector) and the main harness (black connector post handlebar)? I have seen people break these and not know it (or be told it happened by their Indy).
Also did you keep the thumb friction wheel in place?
Once - I argued with someone here long and hard - about the need for dyno tunning. I had mine done and have never had an issue. Sorry to whom ever I was arguing with...
( I was told once I was a dangerous man and hard afoot - found out it was from some movie. I will agree I'm hard headed )

Thanks for the reply Rockin. I looked at the connectors as closely as possible (visual and tugging on wires). All appears fine. I don't know about the thumb friction wheel. First time I've heard that term. Unfortunately, I'm not a very good mechanic but I have changed bars and grips without any problems so I thought this would not be a problem.

Hi rwtuck, the TBW has caused quite a few problems to folks who made changes to the handlebars, grips etc., since it's been introduced on the 08s. If you do a search on this forum by just typing in "TBW problems", you'll see a lot of responses on fixes, tips, etc.
Hope that helps solving your problem.
Might be the little green connector, or a pinched wire. If it is fubbed up at the green connector, you can get the jumper harness separately (the piece from the green connector down to the deutch connector). If it is the throttle sensor itself, they are like $90.
i just went through the same thing with my 09' the end result was a broken pin inside of the green connector on the harness side, the dealer put a new longer harness on it. all is good now. good luck
I was thinking the harness between the green connector and the large black connector in the fairing would be next. We just don't have a dealer in the area worth a sh!% and have very little parts on hand, lots of T-shirts though. Plus the service departments are suspect. Go in for and oil change and it cost you $500 because of "you need this". I'll see if there is a harness available close by otherwise I'm trailering to Rocky Mount. The guys there have walked me through several things without wanting me to bring it in so they can hit me up for $$.
Like everyone else I had a pinched wire and the connector came loose. The dealer tied the connector and ensured it would not come loose again. Hope so because Sturgis is coming up soon. First of three big rides this year.
