It's already getting hot in New Mexico, come July and Augst, the best travel times are from about 5 in the morning until about 11. then it's time to get a hotel, sit by the pool and have a cold one.103-112 degress is "normal" in the summer, but I love it anyway, this state was tailor made for bike riding. Cooler as you get up in the mountains. If you've never been to Capitan, Ruidoso, Angel Fire, or Cloudcroft, you're missing some beautiful scenery.
