I leave mine on my 07 EG Classic all the time. I believe when HD said to remove it in the summer it's more for rider comfort than any thing else. Lets more air blow up around the tank which makes the rider feel a bit cooler since air is hitting him in the face.

they used to come on touring models, but several years ago quit putting them on. sure does eliminate the irritaing wind that blows up into your face from between the forks and fuel tank on the batwing equipped models. i leave mine on all the time.

I have run the baffle on previous bikes for years and now on the SG, I never take it off.

Its the same with the batwing fairing, in fact I control how much air I need to cool off by moving my knees in and out.

Thumbs up Fork Baffles

I usually joke around about stuff like this but on this post I dont want to. When i brought my 2008 i always had air blowing up my nose and around my neck chest with air blowing under my glasses . i put the baffle on and at the same time rigged a rubber band with a playing car staple between them i could hear the playing card spinning like crazy and then the rubber band would brake. i then mounted a whistle like a kid would have and pointed the wind end toward the front of the bike. Wind definetly still blows over the top of the heads.

I leave my baffle on all year round i do remove the movable portion of the lowers in the summer though.
Good luck to you

That baffle makes no difference either way - in temperature or wind to the face. That's why they don't come OEM any longer. If you don't have one save your money for something else like some elephant ears (if you don't have lowers, that is). No tools needed - on and off in about 2 min. flat. The absolute cheapest wind/rain protection investment the MOCO has to offer.

I bought one of these and didn't think it did much until I took it off last Thursday. The difference in the wind hitting me in the chest was significant. I could barely hear my radio. I put it back on Friday, the ride was much more comfortable and I will never take it off. Both days were 100+ degrees and I didn't notice any difference in terms of the bike going into heat management. I do have an oil cooler though. I will share something that I haven't heard discussed before. At speeds over 105mph it seems to give lift to the front end somewhat. This gives a kind of loose feeling. I know, I know, just don't ride that fast.

I have the fork baffle and it seems to reduce the face blast. I trimmed my lower fairing doors off even with the lower fairings when open, it seems to let more air flow in hot weather.
