Default Windshield Replacement and height

I'm picking up my new ultra soon and the stock windshield is the wrong height so I plan on replacing it with a Clearview recurve. I think the stock is a 12" and right now sitting on the bike I am looking at about the top 1" of the windshield. I also rented a 09 ultra for a weekend so I know this stock is not going to work, I want to be able to look over it. So my 2 questions are: 1) How easy is it to replace them (it looks awful easy), is there anything I should be aware of? 2) I am thinking of a 9.5" recurve dark tint, is there any other 6'1" riders that can give me feedback about this height?

They are extremely easy to change out. The "three screws" at the top of the fairing is all that needs to be removed.

I'm 6' 0" and have a 9 1/2" Clearview windshield and it works great. The shield will be covered in bugs but I will hardly ever have any on my glasses.

I am 6'1" and have had the same issue. I ordered a 9 1/2" as well and ran it for a while but ended up with a 10 1/2" from Clearview and am pleased with the results. Perfect size for me.

3 torx screws and tada! I did not have to remove the screws, I just loosened, removed and replaced!

9 1/2 or 10 would be good. I ordered an 8 inch and it's just a bit to short. The next one will be a 10 inch shield. Good Luck.

Clearview is a great windshield. One thing to be carefull of when you change windshields is don't overtighten the 3 screws. I have a 6.5 & 9.5 Clearview recurve with shorter for local riding and taller for long trips. One thing some guys do is buy a Fast Aire windshield which BTW is a great quality windshield for the money first to make sure they got right height before investing in a more expensive windshield. One more thing consider the Clearview blems and save alittle dough as most of the defects are hardly noticeable.

Thanks guys, I thought it looked simple enough to do. I did look at the blemished shields on their web site but they only had 12" shields at this time. I think 9.5" is the one I will go with since the next step up with the clearview appears to be a 10.5" and I'm pretty sure that will be too tall.

Thanks again!!

Easy, but remember it is torx! Also, I bought a few different ones! I use a tall clear in the winter and cold months to look through and an 8.5 tinted to look over, now... I am about the same height.

I'm 6'1" and switched to a dark gray 9.5" with recurve. In my opinion, it's just a little too low - I get more head buffeting than with the 12 stock shield. Also, the dark tint is REALLY dark, so you might not see anything immediately in front of you at a gas station or in your garage. On the road, it's fine.

Thanks, looks like a "good" set of torx drivers are in the plans. What size clear windshield do you use in the winter?
