My check engine light on '02 Ultra seems to be staying on longer, but does eventually go out. This has started happening since I left switch on (don't ask me how I did it!). Battery is now charged. Seems like I read at one time how to get into diagnostic mode and what the different codes mean. Is there a way of checking codes without going to HD?
The light is staying on as a reminder to you that your ECM has logged an error code. There are several threads in this forum that discuss how to check and see what code is logged. But, you could also go to the dealer and they can tell you as well.
Hope this helps!

For a nominal fee Iâm sure. Most likely the 1 hour minimum labor charge which here in the Twin Cities seems to be around $82/hour. It may sound expensive but for that you get missing hardware and low oil levels when there done with your bike. Iâm sorry for the rant, enough time hasnât passed since my last visit to those crooks.

Excellent point, but if you do go to the dealer, $58.00 will get you the Touring Service Manual
Agreed! But, if the bike is under (extended) warranty, it may be worth it to investigate.
I remember seeing a few threads about how to check for the code yourself, but can't remember now. Maybe those on this forum can help.
Thanks,
