Reason: add to
I haven't used a Cee Baileys Harley shield, but I have used their shield on previous BMW bikes I've owned and was never disapointed by the quality or performance of their shields. As far as height goes, if your thinking Cee Ballies I'd just give them a call and they can advise you on which shield and what height would be best for you.
I am 6' 2" with a 32" inseam and tried the 16" Cee Bailey. It was still a little short for me and I went to the standard size Clearview on my 09 RG. That moved the wind up from just at my eyes to just below the top of my head. I liked the looks of the CB better than the Clearview, but performance won.
I have the 16" Cee Bailey with light tint still and will be posting it for sale here soon. PM me if interested.
I didn't have a problem with my 01 RG w/s but my 09 w/s sucked, dirty air. I ordered PN 57958-98A from my local HD dealer and it works great, as that same model did on my 01. Notice how the new w/s is flat on the front vs rounded on the old.
I am working to remedy the same problem - too much wind over the stock HD 16" w/s on my 06 RG. Based on extensive reading in this forum, it looks like Cee Baileys and Clearview have more proponents than KW. Based on a recommendation in the HD Forum, I talked to John at Clearview in Colorado, who recommended a medium +1 for me ( 5'11, 31 / 32 inseam). He advised I can put it on the bike, try it, and so long as the protective wrapper is not removed, it can be returned and replaced with a different measurement w/s at no charge. I put the order in 12 May and they quote delivery in about 4 weeks. So I don't have it yet. On the phone they were nice to deal with and seemed to be quite knowledgeable about the RG windshield issue. I ended up going with Clearview because of the traditional look.
It appears the each brand and each style (traditional or euro) can address your problem, and it will be a matter of personal preference.
Also understand from this Forum that adding lowers helps some too. Again, no personal experience there yet.
