i have rinehart true duals and just noticed the rear head pipe has a broken "L" support. its the one that mounts over the starter. who else has had this and what did you do to fix it. short of getting a new header.
i had that happen to me. i have an 03' RKC w/rineharts. was having a bad rattle, finally about a wk. later, found a broken spport, a piece was broken right out of the pipe. i i removed the left side exhaust, cleaned it up, and brought it to a buddy of mine, he welded it in abot 5 min. put it all back together and all is well, watch you might need a spacer between pipe bracket and support from bike, just add washers as needed to fill gap. also, might need to change heat shield clamps as they seem to keep loosening.
make sure to use new gasket, i went with the old style instead of screaming eagle one. lot cheaper and easier to tighten, remember tighten to 80 inch lbs. have to retighten some times till it's done..
I had the same thing happen to me. I had an exhaust leak that I couldn't find so I decided to remove the entire exhaust system to inspect it. I found that the bracket weld on the rear header pipe broke and it split the pipe about an 1-1/2" long. Frustrated, I put the original exhaust back on and I'm waiting for my Rush slip-ons that I ordered. I'll re-tune the power commander and hope for the best. As for the Rineharts, I'll weld the pipe and sell the system. For the amount of money you pay for Rineharts your investment should last.
I just had this happen this weekend on my 2005 Ultra. Ripped the tab right out of the rear pipe. Called Bub yesterday morning and tried to buy a new rear pipe. The girl that answered the phone in sales sent me to warranty. I told them I'd had the pipes for a number of years and the rear one had a hole in it at the starter mount. Brad asked for my name and address and said a new updated replacement pipe and mounting bracket was on the way - no charge. Here's their number 800-934-9739
You have 2 options, call Bub and they will most likely send you a new pipe. In the mean time you can take that pipe to a muffler shop and have them weld it for you. I did both, and have a "spare" in case the weld breaks.
Mine broke on my '05 RK Custom and the dealer took 5 hours to change it out. He told me I needed the new header pipe with the bracket and rinehart new of the problems they were having with the earlier model and Chargerd me $450.00. That was at the end of last year. This year I heard a rattle and found the bolts on the bracket loose and the 2 bolts that attach the header pipe to the engine were missing. WTF? I replaced the 2 bolts myself and will never take anything else to Jacox HD in Mississauga again. This is not the first problem ive had with them so I dont mind bad mouthing them.
Thanks for the rinehart # as my end caps turned purple also.
Mine broke right before a trip to Maggie Valley. The night before the trip. It left a 1" hole in the head pipe. I pulled the pipe that night and brought it to a local welding shop first thing in the morning. They patched it and I went on my trip.
I e-mailed BUB's warranty department and they sent me the new improved pipe and mounting brackets for free. It did take about 3 weeks to get it.
I ended up putting 7500 miles on the patched pipe with no xmsn mounting bracket. I just waited until I needed a new rear tire and replaced the pipe at the same time.
