how does the noise level compare with the "new" SE 2-piece street performance touring mufflers (pn# 64985-07a)! Who has the best prices on the Monsters and is reputable to deal with?
Had both, stuck with the HD SE Touring Mufflers. Found the MOs to be a bit too loud for my likes. Granted, the SEs can be darned quiet when just cruising or constant speed / throttle but sound really good if you get into the throttle heavy. Also like that these are 50 State stamped EPA legal. Besides, the MOs are darned heavy too. I don't want to need to wear ear plugs and the MOs would just about require that.
I heard the same thing from a stealer today as well..."the MO are very quite at highway speeds" He fired up a bike outside and they have a nice DEEP sound...not near as loud as my V&H long shots on my Heritage
The MO's are definitely louder than stock and a deeper tone than any muffler I've heard. Like others have said, you can feel them. Awesome sound for those that don't want obnoxious and like hearing the tunes.
The monsters are louder and deeper than the SE mufflers (tried both)
If you want BARELY (5-10 percent) louder than stock, with a less TINNY tone, the SEs will make you happy.
If you want a bit more deep and rumbly than stock, (10-20 percent louder, MUCH deeper) but still more quiet than any other aftermarket muffler, you will probably like the monsters. For me they are the PEREFECT balance of not being obnoxious loud (I like loud pipes too...but not after 8 hours) but still having a good, deep, rumble.
I had the mo's which replaced a set of se's(one piece) they are deep but quiet.louder with duals than stock head pipes.Replaced them with CFR's deeper and louder than the MO's.one of the things i didnt like about the MO's besides being just too quiet was they sound the same even when you would hit the throttle. They didnt in my opinion have any bark.

I agree with Rick. The MOs have the LEAST change in volume when you romp on the gas of any mufflers I have tried. They get maybe 10-15 percent louder when you romp on the gas.
Contrast that to the STANDARD ovals, which get a LOT louder when you romp on it.
However, unlike with Rick, this is PLUS in my book. (everyone is looking for something different)
Can't comment on the comparison to the SE's but I can tell you were I got a pretty good deal. I bought a pair off ebay from a seller named KustomEmporium. He had them listed for $600 (Chrome with black tips) and I made an offer of $570 including shipping on Wednesday night. He accepted Thursday morning, I paid immediately, and had them on Friday. Seriously, he must have been at the Fed-Ex place when he received the payment! They were brand new as advertised. Oh yeah, they look and sound great.
