accident update
Can't believe it was true & update - while I am being attended to by the emergency folks I overheard that one driver was trying to get people out of here way - I say a car heading to me with his bright flashing at the oncoming traffic. I figure what the hell is this guy doing in my lane coming at me? Turns out he was trying to warn folks of the driver behind him. I judged the distance between the car on my right and the on-coming cars and tried to steer between them. I made it past the first car but must have clipped the rear of the car that started the whole thing. She hit another car and then hit a light pole. I figure I was still doing 10-15 mph when I got hit and went down. Here is the kicker - she had just finished a dialysis treatment, has diabetes and her blood sugar was out of whack. She should have never been driving after the treatment. I left the hospital after two hours and she was still being admitted. Of course her family apologized for the accident and was thankful that my injuries were not life threatening. Got an update from the dealer and my insurance company and the bike is being totaled. Will be looking for a new 09 Ultra. As far as a lawyer goes - The accident happened while I was on vacation in Myrtle Beach and I live in upstate NY - I'll have to explore my options.
