Default CVO Parts Availability

I went to a HD dealer yesterday hoping to order the tank badges that are used on the Road Glide CVO. The parts guy looked and said the badges are a "Restricted" part and he could not order without returning the damaged part to HD. Is there ANY way around this or is this a "Set in Stone" deal with these guys?

I think after a year or so you can order them. Or you might try giving a VIN from the one you want to match. Someone here will know for sure.

I ran in to this issue with my 105th anniversary Road Glide. I wasn't ordering tank badges. I was ordering a color matched tour pack. I had to have the registration with me. The parts guy told me about the tank badge thing. You have to take in a damaged one and they send it in and fire out a new one. HD is protecting us against knock-offs. Probably a good thing. I was even a little amazed that they would go this length. Ken

Your best bet is to find a damaged '09 SERG gas tank that still has the badges and use them. Killer Creek HD's wash guy snagged the "H" in the HD gas tank script on an '09 SERT while washing the bike and pulled the script away from the tank. I talked to the tech removing the damaged script which was going back to HD per the policy you were told about.

"Restricted" parts means: (1) that a VIN for that model is required to order the part (which was what I needed back in '06 to buy an SG fascia for my '04); or, (2) the damaged part must be returned to MOCO. In the case of CVO badges, (2) has been what I've encountered (e.g. '06 CVO Ultra tank badges; and, CVO Ultra Tour Pak stick-on trim script between the brake lights and lid).

Good luck with your search. See you tomorrow a.m.
