Default PCV upgrade?

I am the proud owner of a new 09 FLHX.

I had the stealer do a stage one upgrade before i took delivery of this bike.
They installed the SE air cleaner kit, did a computer remap and also put on RH slipons.

Since i never got to really ride this bike for any length of time before the stage one I'm not sure its really running that great.
Seems like its running like a dog actually not real gains with this upgrade that i can tell. It sounds better but just not convinced it did that much.

I contacted FuelMotto and they suggest changing to the PCV and remapping.

My question is will this make a difference with my setup? I have already invested in the HD stealers recommendations and would be out some real money here if i change from their setup to the PCV

All help is appreciated.

I think that I would take it back to your dealer and have them look at it before you spend more money!

Forgot to mention, i just had the 1000 mile service done and the dealer says its running fine. Just seems not tuned right to me. Will the PCV make any difference here?

My dealer told me they can't do the stage one downloads anymore. Not sure if its a dealer by dealer issue or state by state

Go with the PC V pre mapped from fuel moto. I have the same setup as you, minus the Dealer download and I have been completely satisfied with the PC V. When I did my install, the dealers here were telling me they were not getting any digital downloads for 09's because they were not suppose to be doing them. I was told by one dealer, they could do a download but it would be the same download done for a 103" upgrade. If I were you I would check into it and if you were not given a proper digital download for your bike I would want my money back to go toward my PC V from fuelmoto.

Thing about that delaer reflash is they still set it EPA lean so it's not going to perform as good as it can/should. Learned about all this the expensive way. Changed over to FuelMoto and have been happy ever since.

The mufflers and AC will improve performance some and the Stage 1 only gets AFR's back to stock, as otherwise they would be lean in open-loop mode (above about 50% throttle position). Below that it's in closed-loop mode and AFR's should not change regardless of whether the Stage 1 download is added or not. Thus, heat in the cruise range will likely not be improved.

The Stage 1 download will not provide a

I would suggest doing this, as IMO you will definitely notice a performance increase. You will also notice a gas-mileage decrease, so when ordering tell them to install the "mileage map." That will help with fuel mileage without harming performance, although it will be at the expense of a bit more heat. IMO their mileage maps are still too rich in the cruise range and heat will not be a problem with it. An even better option is to buy the PCV from FM and lean the cruise range even further, plus add an oil cooler, but that's another subject. Going even deeper in the quagmire are AFV's (adaptive fuel values), another function of the ECM, but let's not go there either just now.

Once the PCV is installed you will get FM's top-drawer customer service for life as well as open up more possibilities, like adding a map switch and the Auto-Tune kit. I think it is the best EFI controller available when you consider the features it affords.

My question is will this make a difference with my setup? I have already invested in the HD stealers recommendations and would be out some real money here if i change from their setup to the PCV
I am not criticizing you, Tex, as you were only following the dealer's advice--but for the benefit of other new-bike owners the Stage 1 download is not the best option available. At $150 it does relatively little to help performance, and for $300 you could buy a PCV with an accurate map from Fuel Moto. FM also has Power Packages with mufflers other than the Jackpot series, although the Dyno-Tuned Jackpot is still the performance king among all other options using stock head pipes.

That said, you should be happy with the performance of the bike with RH's, AC, and PCV. If not, either the bike needs more break-in time or you have an issue somewhere else. If in doubt, ride a bike that's like-equipped for comparison--or take a demo ride on a stocker.

Tex,
When you order the PC V from fuelmoto be sure and tell them you already have the reflash because it will make a diff in which map he loads.
