I agree with others that you probably won't get all your money back on any mods.......unless you wait 20yrs or so when the new bikes are twice the price. I say mix and match whatever looks good to you.
I say do what you like to the bike. I've heard that if you add crome, you'll be lucky if you get 50 cents on the dollar when you sell the bike. If you are planning on getting rid on the bike anytime soon, you should leave it stock.
Skulls dont do it for me. I go for the simple/clean look. Slight touches here and there and I will mix and match themes. No one theme on my scooter but I will make sure everyting ties together. I got my EG Standard because I wanted to personalize my bike and not make it look like everyone elses.
The skulls are the HOT ITEM this year and EVERYONE has them... You go to any dealership and it looks like a bone yard...
Just my opinion... If you like the skulls, get the skulls. I will agree. Your parts guy is trying to push his opinion off on you. Dont let him do it...
IF you've got the jingle to pay for it, and you like the skull look, go for it. But like others said, skulls appeal only to a subset of all Harley riders and let's face it, they've become a cliche used by just about every chopper painter at one time or another. If you find skull fan to buy your bike, you might make out. Otherwise, go for the show and forget ever recouping your investment. Some things turn out to be fads and worthless in a couple of years. But you never know, it may become a "classic" look and someone will put it in a museum someday. Probably superstition on my part, but I don't like icons of death on a vehicle that already is treading the line, if you get my drift.
I am in the process right now of putting the skulls on my Road Glide, this is what my wife wanted which I like to...
You need to do what you like and don't worry about what other people like or think, everyone has there own likes and dislikes.
as an ex automotive parts guy 25 yrs plus, i never said anything that would put down or be negative about anyones choice of parts or accessories. I have an 05 EG and I have all the Skull collection parts there are. But I am not concerned about resale value. Also you can get HD accessories at Surdyke.com @ 20 % discount.
