I did check the contrast and uplugged the battery. Screen is gone, I'm sure. I'm dropping it off on Mon.. They said they will have to pull it and send in or replace. They couldn't give me to much info. since SM wasn't there.
I don't think it's caused from water. I haven't been caught in rain all year, and the couple times I have washed the bike, I lay a towel over electronics and don't blast with water. Last year, I got caught in a couple soakers though but radio worked flawless.
Ticks me off, I'm not big on the looks of after market nor do I want to pay for another radio. But I will have to some day, I bet.

My display took a dump today. It was weird. First the light was dark and vice versa. When I went to adjust contrast, I bumped it one click and everything was fine for a few minutes -- then black. Then light, and that's the way it stayed all day. Stopped at an out of town dealership and was told they have to send it in to get fixed and it takes about two weeks. We'll see what the local guys say. Probably the same thing I suppose. Don't really like the thought of riding for two weeks with a hole in my fairing. Gotta get it done though -- warranty is up in July!!

I just had my stereo replaced in my 08 Ultra. I think they gave me a re-furbished unit. It doesn't work right and it sure doesn't sound as good as the one that came from the factory. I'm taking it in again next week and raise some sand. It's still under warranty and I want it fixed and fixed right. Taking out a radio that doesn't work and putting in another one that doesn't work sux!

There are many problems with the H K radio my 06 had the display go out twice. I have to give Harley credit they fixed it for me but and here a big butt boys. I talked to H K about all the problems and told them I thought they made a high end stereo but with all the H.D. problems I no longer felt that was true. They told me and this is not a direct quote but words to the effect of this. The radio that is in the Harleys was not intended to be used in that type of service. They said it is not water proof nor water resistant nor is it meant to withstand the vibration a Harley puts out. They said they tried to spec one out but it was too expensive so H.D. went with what was available. I will try to find the email (I hope I still have it) that they sent to me. They were not happy about the problems either, but they did not offer to fix the radio. However they did give me a Harley contact person and that's who authorized my repair even though the bike was out of warranty. So like I said Harley took good care of me, but

I picked the bike up today. They had the bike 3 days, put in a new (not refurbished) stereo under warranty. Everything worked out well!
I'm thinking, since I ordered that stereo as an option for my 08 EG, it's possible it was an older model stereo, maybe an 06.
