It seems that Dunlop will sell the 407 only to HD dealers and they are backordered into 2010 (this info from the Cycle Gear Store in Huntsville, who called Dunlop at my request). Words to the wise: If you're gonna need a tire this summer, might want to buy now. Ride safe.
Why wouldn't you just make sure the nail was out, and put a tube in it. With that little amount of mileage on the tire, I run that puppy another 10K. Jmo

The wider the tire the more crap you will pick up in it.

I'm with bigskyhd, I'd tube that dude! Or else plug it. Or both.

Hey Will, some folks got more $$ than us poor folk. There wouldn't be any need to patch it, just tube it and ride. How do they think all those guys with the spoked wheels get around. They leak too! You put a tube and a rim strip in it. Oh well..... I'm guessing peace of mind was worth the price of the tire & installation. That ain't all bad either.

guess you got enough replies on the plug deal but as far as what to replace it with, I;m going with the stock tire. Have almost 15,000 on my 09 Ultra, down to about 4/32, allowed to go to 2/32nd for inspection. great mileage I think!

They pay guys near minimum wage in a tire store. I used to work in one and later owned one. For $50 one can buy enough stuff to patch 25 motorcycle tires. Granted, I have used many "plug" type repairs on everything from trucks to go-carts, but an internally applied patch is the best and will last the life of the tire - period.

I've always said: "ignorance breeds fear" and clearly, there's a lot of "economic stimulation" going on because of it..... (no offense to anyone or whatever it takes to make one feel safe) I've probably put over 2 million miles on patched tires with one vehicle or another in my lifetime.

Where one gets into problems is not knowing the construction of the tire and how to evaluate the repair or the possible futility of the same. Steel belt construction is the worst for repairs, but other than a massive puncture that has likely ripped the belts apart, a well applied repair is totally acceptable in my book.....

Well I guess another way to go is to plug it, then take it to the Full Throttle and use it in the burn out pit!
Has anyone used a can of MotoMaster Inflate & Seal (or similar) in order to get to the next town for repair?
