waxing it with a non abrasive wax doesn't hurt, and the glass cleaner will remove the wax you have on it already. i have gotten to using meguiars or mothers, or any sort of spray detailer. spray it on wipe it off. use very sparingly. works great. i still gotta try the pledge thing.
Any detailer, spray wax or Pledge will fix you up.
What kind of wash are you using? A good quality car wash soap contains a water softener that will reduce water spots. Dishwashing soap does not have a softener and it will also strip the wax. If you are using S100's wash I can tell you it definitely leaves spots unless you rinse it with a ridiculous amount of water. S100 makes some very good products but their wash is not one of them.
i always rinse the bike with distilled water and I can put it away wet and never a spot. takes about 4-5 gallons from the grocery store to rinse completely.
Use the MR. Cleans washer for a spotless rinse. Works very well and you don't even need to blow dry it because it will dry spotless on its own.
If you don't use some kind of spotless rinse, a lot of folks spray on a detailer spray when they wipe down their bikes or cars. The detailer wax prevents the spots and makes it less likely to scratch you paint at the same time.
As for the spots now, first try using a detailer spray, that typically gets rid of them. If not, mix a water/vinegar solution and dip a rag in the solution and that should wipe away the spots. Follow that with a detailer spray.
ive started using novis windshield cleaner and polish.... i first noticed how it shined while cleaning bugs from shield and faring... for just 4.50/bottle does a great job... its safe for all plastics and dont streak at all.. .. im sold on it !!!
Meguiar's quick detail spray. you can also use it when the bike is just a little dusty. also brings back the wax on your bike. you always have to get those water spots before they dry though so keep the paint a little wet while washing. the hotter the day the harder it gets.
We have very hard water here too. I'm actually thinking of installing a new hose bib/valve in the garage after the water softener.
Never the less... I use a leaf blower or air compressor to blow off after washing, then follow with "Harley Gloss" for detailing. It seems to work great.
