Cape Coral Police Chief Robert Petrovich said this afternoon he feels more hopeful regarding one of his officers who was critically injured in a crash Tuesday.
“We’re hoping and praying” for the recovery of Officer Damien Garcia, said Cape Coral Police Chief Robert Petrovich.
This afternoon, “I feel a little more upbeat. It’s been a rollercoaster,” said Petrovich regarding the vigil he, other officers and family are keeping for Garcia, a member of the Cape Coral Police Motorcycle Unit.
Garcia, 26, remains in critical condition this evening in Lee Memorial Hospital’s surgical intensive care unit.
Garcia was injured when a Lincoln sport utility vehicle pulled out in front of him as he was riding his department motorcycle south on Cultural Park Boulevard.
Petrovich said that Garcia has severe head injuries and “they tell me the first 24 to 72 hours are the most critical
