i had the dealer install the ids on my 07 e-glide with only about 3000 miles on the bike and now im at 22000 miles , with one rear tire change , ive had no problems...
I don't have nearly the amount of miles on mine as some people have here but I'm going to order an extra set of rubbers and bearings just so I have them if I need them down the road.
Besides when will Harley decide our bikes are obsolete and stop making parts for an add on part.

if harley stops making parts, there's always the aftermarket. look at all the old shovelhead parts that you can still buy. besides, you can probably get the bearing from a parts house, and the rubber should last for many years, and probably be available for many years since they are stock on new bikes.
i put my ids on at 10k, just replaced tires at 29k (yes, i did get alost 19k out of a stock rear dunlop ). bearings looked good, rubbers looked good, checked the torque on the bowl bolts (as per hd bulletin, increased from 60 to 80 ft/lbs). everything looks and feels good. i'm not worried.
Thanks everyone .... I checked w/ HD yesterday & they have a few bearings in stock & said they havent had any issues with the bumpers. I think Ill be fine
Aero windshield - the universe must be against me getting that back on the market. I cant believe the roadblocks I had to deal with. Now a company that was looking at doing it for me & had all my drawings, tools & such, after telling me they were not interested....has come out with their own version made from a acrylic and not polycarbonate ( bad move). Ive got an attorney looking at the legal issues for me....its been a major PAIN !
I have an 07 Ultra and put the IDS on at 1,000 miles. I now have 40,000 and the last tire change, 37,500, everything looked like new. Bearing, rubber, everything....
I'm one of the first users of the IDS on an 07 Ultra. We did have bearing problems with the first kit. After having two bearing failures, the shop put a new kit on, and followed the service bulletin on them regarding the torquing of the bolts. No problems since, and they check it at every service. I think the first batch were improperly manufactured and we've now worked our way through that bad batch.
Speaking of the IDS retrofit, Was there a bulletin out about changing the Axle Nut torque on the retrofit kits, or is it the same as the 2008's?
Thanks for any and all answers

Yes there was. I believe it went to 80 #s. Should be the same as the 08's.
Regarding the IDS.... a couple weeks ago I was on the return leg of a 4,000 mile trip on my '08 FLHTCUI. I pulled in to a gas station to gas up and as I pulled away from the pumps I felt something terribly wrong, a clunking and grinding sound. I could feel in my seat that it was coming from the rear wheel. Turns out the IDS bearing completely "disintegrated" on me, with no warning. Prior to this I was travelling between 75-80 mph constantly from Missoula to Spokane and I felt nothing out of the ordinary nor heard anything unusual. I was towed to the nearest dealer, (for free), and they fixed me up right away, (for free), but the mechanics were scratching their heads, said they'd never heard of this happening. I just want to give a heads up to all '08 and newer owners cuz I'm sure things wouldnt have ended nicely if this had come apart at freeway speeds. I dont know what can be done as there is no maintenance on this bearing but I do think I'll replace the bolts with a higher grade bolt. The bike only had @ 7500 miles on it when this happened.
