Default Saddle Bag Lid Organizers

Has anyone installed the HD lid organizers for the hard bags, part 53548-02A on a 2009 bike? I bought some after market lid organizers but they didn't fit properly. The liners have a notch that is supposed to go around the mount points on the lid for the nylon strap that keeps the lids from falling.

I'm getting ready to order the Harley versions and see a picture and notice they are cut out the same as these aftermarkets. So now I'm wondering if the lids on the 2009 hard bags are different than the older models. Anyone run into this issue?

Thanks

I had them on my '08 and don't waist your money. They are worthless.
They won't say on the lid, you can't get crap in and out of them very easily. But then that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I went to Wally world, and in the sporting goods section found a pair of fanny packs for $6 ea. I shortened the straps as far as they'd go, and strapped them to the cloth lid hinges in each bag. One has first aid stuff, the other side is for things that would usually go in my windshield bag if I pull the shield off. They had 'em in black and grey and there's three compartments.

Ride safe.

I had the lid organizers on my 2006 Ultra...and I agree...DON'T waste your money. The pockets are small, difficult to get things in or out, and pretty much useless. I put the wall organizer in the tour pack and it works MUCH better..

+1 I had them on my bike I just took them off last week one would not stay attached the double back tape would not hold . Also it was hard to get things in and out of the them. A waste of money. Do you want to buy a used set ? quote=Texas Fat Boy;5105287]I had them on my '08 and don't waist your money. They are worthless.

I have the Tour Pak organizer and I find it useful on trips, but like your SB organizers it falls down regularly. I've tried industrial-strength double-stick foam tape (the type for mounting auto molding) and that works fairly well. Based on my limited knowledge of them I think the SB organizers may not be as useful.

I did alot of research on these before I bought them. Some people have problems with them sticking others don't. I think that prep is important, and HD doesnt stress that much at all (probably to sell another set to you). THe surface has to be roughed and cleaned thoroughly for the tape to stick well. I sanded with 220, cleaned several times with Alcohol and adhered them. Pressed them on and put weight on them for 24 hours to allow the pressure activated tape to bond well. I'll let them sit another 24 before I attempt to place anything into them.

The size of the pouches is fine for me. I intend on putting sunglasses, rags and small items into them anyway. If you want to put anything larger you have a problem. Acces (on a table anyway) is not that bad. I can see if you have large hands that you would have a problem manuevering things in and out of them.

I have used the 3M VHB tape on cars for a few years, mainly in trunks and on paint for ground effects. It has not failed me yet, when the surface is prepped right. And if for some reason it does fail I'll go to epoxy.

With a Street Glide, I dont have the tour pack option, and the side wall organizers take too much room.

I have them and they kinda suck. I used my own double stick tape and it worked OK but they are a PIA to get stuff in and out of...basically use them for extra sunglasses and some sun block...
