Default Throttle Play

How much slack is normal for the throttle cable? I have an '05 Road Glide FI and it has more slack than any bike I've ever owned. I have taken everything out that I can and have asked the dealer to look at it and he says it is just right. It moves about 3/4" before hitting the gas.

3/4 of a turn on the throttle?

seems a bit much but not too far out of whack...dealer is full of it...you should be able to get all the play out of it....

Way to much slack, check out a service manual. Should be able to take most all of it out.

I think you'll be replacing throttle cables oftener than most if you leave that much slack.

Put a new throttle cable on it & adjust it to where you feel comfortable with it.
