Hey all, recently took delivery of 09 FLHX with security. No more VHS or DVD to explain the system? Also no adjustments for sensitivity like there used to be? Maybe I missed it in the manual. Thanks in advance.
That's correct. My '05 came with a video, sensitivity adjustments, etc. just like you said. My '09 comes with the hands free fob and that's it...
Talks about the alarm in the owners manual but that's pretty much about it.
for the last five harleys i've bought new, the salesman has taken the time to give me an orientation on each of them. i thought that was part of what they did when they sell you a new harley, where they show you how everything works, and show you how to set up your turn signals for entering your code in case you don't have your fob with you. hmm.
Dealer delivery was not the issue, purchased 6 new so far, all deliveries were fine although none showed how to set codes or sensitivity. Thought I missed sumtin thats all! Seems like alarm is not anywhere near as sensitive as previous years to me......most likely due to no sensitivity adjustment!
There IS a security code set-up that is described in the owner's manual. Most dealers have some sort of default preloaded.
Ya need that code in case you lose the fob, or you want to trailer and set the system for trailer mode.
Other than that, the system is very automatic and hands-free. Arm/disarm is based on proximity. The owner's manual also suggest that you keep your cell phone and fob apart from each other. Apparently the cell phone frequencies can interfere with fob communicating with the bike's receiver. I haven't found that to be a issue for me.
Yes we know about the code so you can disable the alarm and start your cycle if you forget your fob. I was talking about the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the alarm as was available previously, at least up to 2004. You could set it to very sensitive to not sensitive at all, and yes you still had a code.
