Default Zumo 660

After reading the posts on the Zumo Forum, I think I'm going to wait awhile before I buy a 660, if I buy one at all..

Seems to be a few issues with the new unit and some are saying it's not that motorcycle friendly..

Guess Garmin rushed it out to the public without doing all their homework..

I have a Zumo 450 which has been a faithful companion and has gotten me through several thousands of miles of road trips. Now that there is a stereo bluetooth on the 660 I plan an upgrade at some point. I've been reading posts on Zumoforums and it seems for many users the 660 has not had too many problems. I suggest you stay tuned to that forum www.zumoforums.com

I've never been a fan of a fairing, so it will be nice to at least have the option of listening to stereo music from my iPhone or SD disk in the 660.

My rule of thumb is never buy any new tech device until the bugs are worked out. My timeline is to consider changing over in 6 months at the earliest. I resist the temptation to be the first to have any new tech toy. Just remember, once you have the 660, there will always be a newer model to replace it.

Your right, hang back awhile until all of the bugs are worked out. They already have a software update out to correct some of the issues...I'll wait a few months and hopefully the bugs will be out and the price adjusted downward (wishful thinking!)

I have one. No issues yet to date. I love it. It's my first GPS so I have nothing to compare it to.

No problems at all with mine and it's very motorcycle friendly in my opinion. The software upgrade fixed the issue of the unit not showing city and town labels on the screen. Only thing I don't like is when a route is downloaded to it from the Mapsource program, it shows up as a Cross Country route (straight line). I found that there is an extra step that must be done... after downloading, you have to select "Import" and it will then appear just as the route was made in Mapsource. This is not a big issue, but on my old unit, I just downloaded it and activated it.

How are you all mounting it to your bike? Are you using the stock gear, or are you buying some aftermarket stuff? Anyone want to show a pic of it on their bike so I can get a sense of size? I have an 09 RKC, and have been wanting a unit that I can use in my car as well. It seems that this is the perfect fit, but unfortunately, the price doesn't come down on this model like it does on the other Garmins... we need more demand!

Just purchased a 660 on ebay. It should be here on Wednesday. Can't wait to give it a try.

It comes with everything you need to mount on the bike and in the car. I use the suction cup on the windshield in the car. It comes with 2 types of mount connections for the bike. You can either use the u-bolt around the handlebar or use the bolts supplied with it to mount it on your clutch bracket (I mounted it this way). I connected the power wire to the hot and ground wires at the headlight plug inside the fairing and ran the audio wire to the input receptacle on the radio. Only thing I had to buy was the jumper cable for the audio connection.
