Ive just joined up here , im from New Zealand currently ride a Vmax and love it and its power . But i see myself riding on longer trips and just started looking at Tourer models ie Ultra - Glide or something down that line .
What would you guys recommend as a year, model as looking at alot of 2up .
Have you guys come across and probs or faults .
I ride a 2007 Electra Glide standard and it is quite comfortable on long trips. Unfortunetly, it will not be included in the 2010 lineup. I think the EG's are the best things HD puts out IMO. Although I keep telling myself if I catch a few more flying rocks with my knees, I am going to go after an ultra just to protect what's left of my knees! Not to mention the pleasure of having tunes to listen to while riding....
It all depends on what you are looking for out of your bike. You are never going to match the power of a VMAX with a Harley. I shouldn't say never, but it is a different class of bike which I am, sure you are already aware of. If you plan on doing a lot of traveling 2 up you should look at the ultra as it comes with bags, tourpack and all that good stuff standard on it. It really boils down to personal choice of what does if or you visually and how it fits you physically. Check out the harley site and look through the different touting models as for a start to familiarize yourself with the different models.
Do dealers there offer test rides?
Theres a big difference in metric bikes and HD's.Some of the metrics have more stock HP and torque. To get more power from an HD is going to cost.
But after owning a Roadstar,I can say the handling and comfort of my Road Glide is much better.
Sig pic says it all. One HUGE problem is getting off the derned thing, you don't want to do it. My lawn is overgrown, forgot what my kids names are, who's this woman they say I'm married to?? Gotta start being responsible again and park it for a few hours......really honestly have not had any problems with the scoot, just scheduled service. Over 10,000 miles since last September and love'n it!

Im actually looking at importing 1 , wether from the states or japan im not sure yet , i imported my Vmax was really simple .
Also . The Ultra has the sounds on it right . But over hear we wear helmets so would that be still useful , and i have come across a couple here around the 100,000 km mark how good is these motors and how long will they last kms/miles wise ?
on the ultra u can ussually hear the radio with a helment on unless its very windy. they also come with one headset that will fit most helments, but the harley headset sucks if u really like the music invest in a j&m headset a intercom and cb can also work with headsets(get 2 if u wanna hear the wife).
