Anybody ever use Allstate? I have been checking their rates and they are a lot cheaper than State Farm. I was wondering if any body has any good things to say or bad.
allstate as a whole is rather difficult to deal with if you need to use them... they basically force the repairer's to cut corners
2 companies that come to mind that are good on dealing with for repairs are progressive and nationwide.... also, if you have a good record.. increase the amount of coverage... my rates kept going down from minimum coverage 15/30 all the way to 250/500... then at 500/500 they went up...
its worth checking out .. for all insurance companies actually.. better coverage
I have Allstate on my jeep and cars. I have used them for 28 yrs. Just recently they gave me a quote $100 cheaper than Safeco (which I had) I switched over and now I'll see if it's worth it. I never had a claim so I don't know how they operate, although I heard they are strict.

I would have to disagree with this. I have Allstate for all of my policies, 5 cars, 1 Ultra, house and cabin. They are great to work with. My daughter hit a guard rail this last winter on icy roads and the local repair shop I use was working on it the next day. They told me working with the local adjuster was really easy asnd sometimes he didn't even come out to look at the vehicles because he trusted their quotes. After the truck was done an Allstate inspector showed up a week later to "inspect" the wrok of the body shop, never had that happen before.
Also has my truck broke into and the radio stole, took it to the adjuster and he cut me a check right their for full replacement of the dash, radio, trim, everything. Full price for all the parts and for labor even thought he knew I was fixing it myself.
Just my experience, it may be different other places but so far nothing but a very good experience with Allstate.
I go through USAA for my Jeep, I'm 27 and it's about $98/mo for full coverage and $250 deductable. Then on my Fury I have classic insurance through Hagerty. Went I went to insure my bike I called USAA and they don't offer motorcycle insurance so they recommended Progressive. For full coverage and $100 deductable it's about $50/mo. Hope the helps out.
I deal with all the insurance companies claims adjusters. Allstate is by far the worst insurance company out there. Nationwide is the second worst. I see it almost every day. Their claims adjusters are very poor as a whole. Now a lot of this is in how they deal with the person that you hit (ie, liability) but as a whole, the adjusters are paid on limiting claims. So if it seems like the adjuster is acting like the money is coming out of his pocket, its because it is.
If you, or your parents or grandparents were in the military, you should qualify for USAA. They are the best. In my state, they use progressive to handle motorcycle insurance. Don't know if that is the case everywhere. They had the best price on the policy for me. Saved me several hundred dollars over state farm who I had before.

Not true. My wife (a retired Allstate adjuster) was never paid to limit claims. She started out on smaller claims and ended up handling very high dollar claims.
As far as the insurance for several years I had my motorcycle insurance with State Farm even though my wife was an Allstate employee because of the rates. About 3 or four years ago I switched the bike to Allstate because they have become very aggressive about going after the motorcycle business and their rates reflect that.
Allstate sucks! PERIOD!
had em for 10 years.....They dropped me after hitting a deer 2 times within 2 years apart. I had a perfect driving record and had no previous claims. I asked why because deer hits are only Comprehensive claims (no fault) and they agreed...but said that they use a "points" system when someone makes a claim whether its a comp or collision claim and when the points add up.....bam! your dropped!
State Farm or American Family is my choice.
cheaper does not always = better
When a lady rear-ended me on my bike, she had Allstate for her insurance, and they were a pleasure to work with, I think it helped that the adjuster was a Harley rider, but he wrote me a check for the full quote that I got from the local Harley dealer even though he knew that I had 10% off of all parts. Seriously makes me think about checking their rates the next time my auto policy comes up.
