Sounds like good advice. Maybe the wiring for the switch as well.

starting problem
A friend of mine has a 1994 touring bike. I don't know the exact series. He says it's the last year that Harley made this particular model. It has the shark nose fairing. He's having an interminent starting problem. Sometimes it fires right up, but sometimes when you hit the start button, you get nothing but a click. The battery has tested ok. It does not seem to make a difference if the bike is hot or cold. Sometimes you can immediately hit the start button again and it fires right up, other times to start it he's had to jump it. He recently put a new Harley starter on it and it still does the same thing. Any ideas would be appreciated. He and his wife have a road trip coming up and he's alittle nervous about getting on the road with it.

All the above are good possibilities .. Would start with checking all contacts and connetions from the battery to the Starter itself then move on to the Starter relay which is about a 10.00 item...

Connections......
Check the battery connections. I have a 94 and they used an angle piece on the battery terminal to put the connections on the front side of the battery. The cable connections on mine were tight to the angle piece, so I thought it was something else. Come to find it was the screw that connected the angle piece to that battery that was loose. Took off the angle piece and put the cables directly to the battery and have not had any problems since.
