Default How loaded is loaded? Luggage Racks?

I'm heading out for a long trip to Bar Harbor and I trying to figure out which luggage rack would be best for my SG. I've heard that the limit on the Two-Up luggage rack on the quick disconnect hardware is 10lbs. That seems fairly useless for a long trip especially for a $400 rack system. Have people used it? Any suggestions for others? I like to look of the 4 channel rack but it's not a quick disconnect and I don't want to ride with a sissy bar all the time.

I have the detachable rack from my FLHCI and it can hold more than 10lbs. I think the lawyers require them to put that on there. It's not just the load factor, but the fact that the weight is aft of the rear axle, which can affect steering. Just load your heaviest stuff into the forward part of the saddlebags where it will be down low and between the axles. I probably had 20-25 lbs. on the rack two-up during a recent trip and it was fine. If you're looking at 30lbs or more, you probably need the heavier rack. If you're riding solo, put the pack on the passenger seat. The detachable is great because it comes off with the sissy bar when you want to ride around town without the old lady.

The detachable two up says 15 lb limit on it. The one that bolts to the sissy bar says 10lbs on it. I have both. I have had a lot more than 15lbs on the two up. More like 30-40lbs and ridden several thousand miles.
