Taking touring stuff off is cheaper than having to buy it for the SG.
I had an 07 Classic I tried to make into a SG. Now I have an 09 SG. Get the real thing - and get a tourpack for the back. You can always change the seats -
SG has clean front fender, clean bags, silver gauges and lowered. Very sharp
I traded my road king in on an 08 street glide. No comparison between the SG and the EG. the SG is bad ***. do not keep the stock seat though. i have a couple seats and a detachable tour-pak for the wife. you cant beat the look when the backrest is off and riding solo.
How do ya like'em!! Do ya wished ya would have got a EG ? Think'in on trad'in my Heritage. May be awhile, but I really like the street glide! Most of my ride'in is highway! No great distance, 3-400 mile weekend jaunts! About 40% will be two up!! Give me a nudge!!
I have had both (05 FLHT and a 09 FLHX) so either one is fine with me. It really comes down to what you want. You are paying for it and riding it. You should test ride both before making your decision. I believe the moco is allowing test rides on any bike in dealer showroom for a limited time. This is unprecendented so you should hurry on down.
I've been on my 1st Harley for about 3 weeks now. Don't know why I waited so long! I looked at a Standard, then Street Glide, and ended up with the EG Classic. I wanted stuff like the light bar, cruise control, saddlebag rails, back rest (my wife doesn't ride, but my grandkids like to go for a few miles & I don't want 'em on it without the back rest.) After pricing all the options that I wanted, I was up to the EG, so I got it, and feel like I got a Street Glide with a free tourpak!
I went from a 1998 Fat Boy to an 08 Street Glide, and absolutely would never own a Softail ever again. Nice for around town, but not too good when you hit the open road, with the exception of the Heritage Softail. My buddy just hit 60,000 miles on the weekend and loves his. The EGC is an awesome bike, I tested it several times comparing it to the SG,and sat on the fence, trying to decide between the two. I ended up going with the SG, and don't regret it. I love the clean look...
