In the advanced rider course, we were taught that physics won't allow the head unit to move more than a degree or two once speeds exceed 15 mph. Accordingly, the only time the fairing is "out of alignment" (not facing the same as the direction you're moving) is at very slow speeds. At those speeds, if you're looking at the fairing while in a turn, I suppose I know what you'll be doing next.

I had never riden a RG until just recently.

Always thought they were odd looking. But , now, my opinion that it is the best riding HD I have ever been on.

Its so smooth and stable at interstate speeds.

I have a blacked out '06 RG

very strange, i see in your sig pic you are leaning way into a turn yet your front wheel is pointed straight! so if you had a batwing fairing i have to assume it would be pointed straight as well? lol i guess having a sail bolted to ones handlebars makes batwing riders come up with crazy excuses as to why it's a good idea.....

Not really all that true...

I bought my EG back in 04 - in 06 I bought all the parts to change my EG into a RG - rode that for three years - now have gone back just for something different - no other reason..

What all that said - when I did my first few rides on the RG - I believe what people are seeing is out of their peripheral vision and can happen while the rider is looking forward and NOT down. I believe this happens because we are used to the front end moving with our handle bars - I also found this phenomenon does go away quickly.

Peripheral vision: Side vision. The ability to see objects and movement outside of the direct line of vision.

This is a totally useless thread. If you can't ride one or the other, you shouldn't be riding. I've gone from one to the other and back again many times and there is little if any difference. All anyone ever does is try to justify their choice. Does it matter what other people think? Just ride whatever you got and enjoy it!

Well as for being a motorcycle mechaniac that I am. You guys are experiencing what we guys do everyday. Hopping on various motorcycles all the time and everyone of them are different. Even from same model to model, American or Jap they are all weird at first. I think it comes down to what is the most comfortable for who is doing the majority of riding on it.
