getting the baffles out is a biatch, D&D won't even do it, y amight damage em removing em. if you want louder I have a performance baffle you can have for half the cost of what D&D charges for em.
I thought that you guys said that about the quiet one!!! Shocking just how quiet this pipe is. My true duals got louder after the cam change, so I figured these would still sound good.
It's deep and bassy. I don't have any experience with the quiet baffle...just the regular one and it's perfect for me.
It's probably so quiet because it's new. I've got some miles on mine now and the packing is probably burned away pretty good...........it's plenty loud now and I can hear the exhaust fine on the bike.
Swapping the baffle is really easy to do...........even easier since it's brand new so the carbon and rust haven't set in yet.
I am not so sure I will be happy with it even after the packing burns out some. I have about 35 miles on it right now, and I can smell it, as it is still burning. Thanks for the post with the doc on remove/add.
I said it before too...if you want quiet and "muffled" muffler's..the Fatcat QB is for you
I had it first. The Standard baffle makes just about the perfect motorcycle noise for me. I had the QB on a HD Stage II 103 and it was quiet. When I had the HQ 107 installed with 10:5-1 CR I thought they would be perfect. Still too muffled. We put the standard on at Phils and the second we fired it up, it was obvious which "sounded" better to both Phil and my ear. I also don't find the std baffle to be overly loud for that matter. I ended up just getting a whole new standard muffler.

Where did ya get the other baffle from, D&D?? What was the cost?
I took my QB and peeled the glass packing off. Now it's basically a std baffle sound. Cost..... ZERO. I have a std baffle also and my modified QB is not as tinney as the std.

Can you give a me a little more detail on what you did to modify it??

I ordered a "complete standard Muffler" to be clear for approx $225 I think from Steve at AMS in Ft. Worth. I could have just gone by D&D (also in FTW) but Steve generally has a better price...go figure.
I brought my bike to Milwaukee HD to have my FatCat changed out to the silent baffle but the shop is saying that the baffle is seized in the exhaust and they cannot get it out.
I told them they had to use WD-40 and drop it on something soft to shake it loose but they are adamant it is seized in the exhaust.
Anyone else think this is BS and that the shop sucks?
