You will never go wrong buying a good lever action rifle. I have a "few" myself!
Yep, it's the Marlin 1894 Cowboy in .357/.38, 20 inch oct barrel. I had one just like it for a while before the Harley bug hit me. I was tickled to get another one for the price I got it at. It's really a very nice rifle.
I know what you mean about the hobby thing. I'm trying to cut back to the basics of Bikes & guns, but scuba diving & RC planes/helicopters keep creeping in there. When I die my kids won't inherit much money but they'll be set for toys! In the case of the RC stuff - some slightly (badly) dented toys!
Burnt it up on 03 FB. After a couple years I said screw it, took up RC helicopters after 25 years of fixed wing. Then the ban got lifted, I said screw it to the helis and started buying those EBRs. A new administration was coming down the tracks, looked like a train wreck in the making, ammo, ammo and more ammo and had to quit burning it up/no more plinking. Got tired of the 03 so got an 09 SG, won't burn it up like last time and used to be wouldn't ride after 100 degrees. I've pushed that back to 95, so there isn't much riding now. Then I took the boat out, had a terrible accident and all the guns were lost. Out of sheer boredom (and the fact technology has gotten very cheap w/the economy and all) I got a DSLR and adapters for my TeleVue 85 and 102. Should keep me busy till it cools down in between the yard and that pesky work thing that gets in the way of everything. Anyone have a chiller for a reef tank?
Nothing wrong with having a lot of different interests. It will stave off Alziemers for a few more years. It is all about keeping the grey matter active.
I know what you mean about the Hobbies burning through money...Harley's, guns (which got stolen, ) Scuba diving, Martial Arts, and Bass fishing! So much for leaving any cash behind!!
