Default Soos Floorboard extensions

Hey all:

I had ordered Soos floorboard extensions due to the positive feedback here.

The kit came in quickly and I opened it up and "scoped" out the job. I have the chrome "jiffy stand cover" and with the ultra crash bars it was a pain in the azz to put on, the Jiffy stand cover. After looking I'm realizing that the cover is in the way of one of the floorboard bolts. At this point I decide that it is NOT worth it to put Soos kit on.

I call Jim and he said simply send it back.

However, yesterday Im thinking about it and I'm not one to let some bolts "beat me". I took a closer look at the jiffy stand cover and was able to loosen the bolt and move it out of the way to get the socket in for the bolt.

Long story "shorter"...the job was fairly quick and I rode the bike and the extra inch extension of the floor boards definitley is a plus..."thats what she said"

Conclusion: even if you have the jiffy stand cover which does hide access to one of the bolts that hold on the left floorboard, be assured that YOU DO NOT have to remove it to use the Soos kit. You only have to "loosen" it.

This product is recommended and Jim is a very nice guy to deal with.

Ride Safe

So what does this do anyway...does it move the boards forward? does it move the controls to??? Not sure how this works....I am 6'1" so i may benefit from this.
Thanks.

It moves the floorboards "out" NOT forward...Giving you more room to rest your feet and not as close to the engine casings. The bigger your feet the more benefit you would get because your boots are less likely to be caught in between the heel toe shifter.

Is the Jiffy Stand "cover" a piece that is stock on the bikes or is something you added? I'm thinking of ordering the SOOS product and don't want any additional hassles.

The Jiffy stand cover is an additional accessory. As I wrote, even if you have one, loosening the bolt will allow you to put Soos' extenders on.

As an update:

I put a couple hundred miles on since I added the Soos kit.

The extra inch away from the engine is definitely a plus in comfort. In addition, I usually rest my heel on the boards while my toes are on my highway pegs...the extra width makes this more comfortable too.

Well worth the $33.95........
